Whitecliff
Farm is a small community on Decatur Island
in the San Juan Islands of Puget
Sound, Washington. It consists
of six two-acre lots (of which four have homes) and a shared 58 acres of common
area.
The common area includes 1200 feet of southeast-facing beach, a
large meadow and orchard, a productive fenced garden (berries,
vegetables and flowers), a barn providing storage for community-owned
equipment, a restored homestead building, a root cellar, and a community
water system. The forest area, and the beach, are accessible by an
extensive network of trails.
Whitecliff also owns lots in the neighboring
Decatur Shores Community Association. This provides owners with access
to the DSCA dock, airstrip, and other facilities
The community takes its name from the White
Cliff shoreline area on the southeast side of the island. The high bluff
provides spectacular views of Rosario Strait; Mt. Baker; Fidalgo,
Whidbey and Lopez Islands; and the Cascade and Olympic ranges. Also in
view are the three Bird Rocks in mid-strait, and (at low tide) Dot Rock
State Park.
